Description

John Eggers has just finished his fifth book, “My Town,” about Waterville. “My Town” shares many stories about what Waterville was like in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. The book contains over 100 photos taken from high school yearbooks during that time period.

Some of the topics John writes about include: Pheasant Hunting, Coon Feeds, Luther’s Ben Franklin, Homecoming, Glenn’s Bakery, Dusbabek’s Market, Burning Leaves, City Dump, Spearing Northerns, O’Leary’s Station, Bridges, Sock Hops, and many more.

The 118-page book reminisces about growing up in a town where the fathers were part of the Greatest Generation, who, along with hardworking mothers, helped create a better life for their children.

Readers will enjoy John’s memories of Osborn’s Dam, Waterville floods, churches, doctors, and catching bullheads. Those who aren’t from Waterville will find that “My Town” is very much like their own town. If you liked John’s weekly column in the Waterville/Elysian paper, you’ll enjoy “My Town.”
